This Christmas, your support can make all the difference
As a lifelong swimmer, Ellie, a Macmillan counsellor understood the powerful impact cold-water swimming can have on wellbeing. In 2023, with a Macmillan grant, she launched Into The Blue, an innovative cold-water swimming course designed to help people living with or beyond cancer ease anxiety and reconnect with their bodies.

One of those people was Nick. After prostate cancer treatment, he faced challenges affecting his physical and mental health. He turned to Macmillan’s specialist counselling services and that’s where he met Ellie.
Ellie provided vital support during a difficult time, and introduced Nick to Into The Blue. The course helped him reconnect with others, find joy, and start feeling like himself again.
“It puts a spring in my step and a smile on my face. It has just made me feel so much more positive. We have formed a bond and have become a really close unit.” – Nick
