At Macmillan, we do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer.

Ali went to her appointment alone, expecting a routine follow-up. Instead, she was told she had cervical cancer. In shock, she struggled to take it all in - until her Macmillan Nurse, Jane, stepped in.

“Jane was incredible. I’m not sure if she realised what this had meant to me, how beneficial it was to me and the difference her being there had meant. The support that the Macmillan Nurses provide from beginning to end is immense and I will forever be indebted.”

Jane brought empathy and calm to a frightening moment, helping Ali understand her options and giving her space to talk through her feelings.

When Ali’s first procedure didn’t work and she needed a full hysterectomy, Jane was still by her side, supporting her through the emotional impact of losing the chance to have more children.

Now cancer-free, Ali has raised over £73,000 for Macmillan and continues to share her story to raise awareness for cervical cancer prevention.
